The vision for this home was to create a modern yet inviting family getaway—one that felt warm and welcoming without being overly complicated. The design needed to balance simplicity with versatility, ensuring the space was easy to close up after a weekend visit while also serving as a long-term gathering place for family and friends.
ACK collaborated closely with architect Todd Beyer and builder Mark Eichorn to completely reimagine the home from the ground up. Stripped down to its studs, the house was redesigned to improve flow and functionality. A large dormer replaced the original spiral staircase, providing better access to the primary bedroom. New windows and mechanical systems were installed to enhance efficiency, while a striking modern entry was created by enclosing the breezeway with expansive glass panels and a glass front door. The garage's raw space was transformed into a vibrant hangout area featuring a pool table, game tables, and a large TV—perfect for entertaining. With a focus on durability, warm wood tones complimented with warm attributes to include bronze and gold metals, textures within all of the fabrics, and sophisticated finishes, the home balances style and practicality, making it an ideal retreat for the entire family.
